Brake Lines & Parking Brake
Hours this entry: 3.0Turtledeck Skin
Hours this entry: 1.0Fuse Air Vent
Hours this entry: 2I got a new CNC cutter which I will use to redo my panel, but I figured I would try out a couple other items on it before doing the panel. The first item was a double for the Fresh Air NACA vent. I scanned it, traced it in the CAD program and then cut it out of some scrap 0.20. First perfect..
Fitting into the fuse, with the first few holes drilled:
Final fit, cleco’d in the fuse:
Rudder Cables, Fuel lines, Turtle Deck, misc fuse
Hours this entry: 7Finished up the fuel lines, including both the left and right sides, and putting the inline fuel filter in. I’ll also have a gascolator, so this summit filter is 40 micron and will catch most before hitting the boost pump.
I also worked on installing the Rudder pedals, opening up the holes in the carry through for the snap bushings, installing the cable guides and all bushings along with the cables to the rear of the fuselage.

Other misc work:
Drilled the holes for the pitot static ports in the rear of the fuselage.

Additionally, I had fitted the turtle deck and matched drilled all the holes with the fuselage and formers.
Fuel Line Redo and more..

Hours this entry: 5.Continued work on the fuel lines.
Fuel Pump to the firewall and from the pump back to the fuel selector.
I am putting my fuel filters in the wing, so I went straight from the pump to the selector. I also added a plate (not shown here) on top of the selector so that the panel that gets bolted over the selector is flush.
I finished up the work for the rear pedals, adding in the the supports for the rear pedals.
Additional nutplate:
Rudder Pedals, again..
Hours this entry: 3Match drilled the rudder cable tie-downs with the doubler on the firewall.
Installed the F-8118 idler brackets for the rear-seat rudder pedals:
I drilled and riveted the rear Rudder Pedal pushrod. I was pretty careful so that I wouldn’t have to do any painting, but I ended up slipping with the squeezer on the last rivet and put a little indent in the paint. Oh well..
Installed the Grove brake reservoirs on each master cylinder, with a little Permatex to seal them up nice.
Fuel Lines, Roll Servo, misc Fuse Tasks
Hours this entry: 4Started working on the fuel lines and figured I would try out one that looked “easier”, so I start with the line from the Fuel pump to the firewall:
Also put in the Auto-pilot roll servo. I wasn’t able to do this while we still had the stick controls in:
Riveted:
Servo test mounted:
Also match drilled the tie-down brackets. Right side:
Left side:
Rudder Pedal Work, Fuse misc
Hours this entry: 3.5Started to work on some pieces of the rudder pedal again, specifically the lock pin and handle.
I didn’t like the while “tying a knot” process for the cable, so I decided to cut a piece of stainless tubing and crimp it on the end. It still slides up nice into the handle and won’t pull out.
Fitting the fuel pump bracket on the floor and match drilling it.
